Pleasant Staff. Very Clean Ship. Enjoyed all the amenities available on the Manannan Fastcraft. Smooth Sailing. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Found it expensive for a foot passanger, but was spur of moment trip and expected added premium!! Just felt was a little bit high when booking last minute. Would recommend booking a little earlier!!

In return for exclusive use of the linkspans at Douglas, the Steam Packet Company has guaranteed regular services to the Manx government. Ben-my-Chree and Manannan provide regular services to England and Ireland. In addition to the regular routes, the company operates a few special day excursions to other destinations or round the Isle of Man in summer. Extra sailings are scheduled at times of high demand such as the TT period. The company also operates its own in-house travel agency, Steam Packet Holidays. In August 2017 the company announced plans to scrap the Belfast route and switch sailings to the port of Larne in Northern Ireland. The move would allow the sailings to carry freight, motorhomes and coaches which cannot currently be accommodated through Belfast.

Being the monopoly carrier they hammer you for money at peak times (the TT). Go on the Manannan if you can, the crossing is fast, the boat is stable and comfortable. And there is a no-smoking outside deck not to smoke on at the back, or just enjoy the spray and diesel fumes from. 5 stars for the boat and crew, stars lost for the peak time charges.

It has the monopoly being the only ferry service to the Isle of Man. You are held to ransom by them and the frequent cancellations breakdowns and late journey really spoil the experience. As a regular Steam Packet traveller I am frequently disappointed. (I fly when I can to avoid it but often need to take a vehicle and the lack of alternative is frustrating in the extreme) The redeeming feature is the staff who are helpful friendly and kind. They have to put up with all kinds of grief and are good humoured the majority of the time.

Long waiting times on the car ferries. The ferry itself temps to be overloaded. Me and my family were never being able to get a seat in the large indoor area. The temperature there is very hot. We usually waited around 60minutes in a lane to get aboard... P&O ferries are way faster, even with the border patrol...
